    Chic's debut album reached #27 on the US Pop charts, #12 on the R&B charts and was certified Gold by the RIAA, selling more than half a million copies. Chic was released on compact disc by Atlantic Records/Warner Music in The album was digitally remastered and re-issued by Wounded Bird Records in and by Warner Music Japan in Genre: Disco, R&B.

    The group released a number of albums in the period to After 's Believer the group did not record a studio album until 's Chic-Ism. The band have since continued to tour and release live and compilation albums. The group's first studio album in 26 years, titled It's About Time was released in September Compilation albums:

    When Chic's self-titled debut album came out in , many rock critics gave it very negative reviews and failed to see just how rhythmically and harmonically exciting Chic's blend of funk, soul, and Euro-disco was. But one critic who often gave Chic favorable coverage was Don Waller, who hit the nail on the head when he exalted the band as "an uptown version of Booker T & the MG's."7/

    May 13,  · This album is unique in the Chic catalog as it shows us the Chic sound as it is being fine-tuned into the precision, airy funk that characterized their next pair of (and 2 biggest) albums. It also happens to be the sole appearance by original vocalist Norma Jean Wright, who was later replaced by the equally capable Alfa Anderson/5(23).

    The Chic Organization is a great band. We know how difficult it is, to let this music sound good live. They also played the lesser known Soup For One, Hangin' and the instrumental Open Up. Oh yes, and let's not forget 2 other of my favorite songs, He's The Greatest Dancer and Thinking Of You.
