The album was a radical departure for the band, with opening track "Europa" setting the pace. The track is a dramatic instrumental overture featuring orchestral arrangements and ending with vocalist Debbie Harry declaiming a passage about automobile culture over an electronic soundtrack. Besides rock and pop tracks, the band explored a wide range of other musical genres: "Here's Looking at You Genre: Psychedelic pop, New wave.

"Autoamerican" is the crème de la crème of Blondie albums. "Autoamerican" is in a league of its own, and I find challenging to describe the different sounds, but I'll do my best. First off, guitarist Chris Stein decided he wanted an orchestra on many of the tracks. Which is /5().

AUTOAMERICAN is the much maligned 5th Blondie album - I know there are a lot of people out there who think it ought to be subject to re-appraisal! There are some Blondie-esque titles in here ANGELS ON THE BALCONY/GO THROUGH IT/T BIRDS AND WALK LIKE ME as well as the hits that you'll be more than familiar with/5(7).

The basic Blondie sextet was augmented, or replaced, by numerous session musicians (including lots of uncredited horn and string players) for the group's fifth album, Autoamerican, on which they continued to expand their stylistic range, with greater success, at least on certain tracks, than they had on Eat to the Beat.A cover of Jamaican group the Paragons' "The Tide Is High," released in.

Autoamerican is Blondie's most experimental album, though it did result in two U.S. number one hits, "The Tide Is High" and "Rapture". The rest of the album is more obscure, and it isn't what most listeners are expecting the first time through. When I first heard this album, I didn't think it was all that good, but it really grew on me.

Go Through It: B1: Do The Dark: See more tracks * Items below may differ depending on the release. Review Blondie's Autoamerican is a terrible album, but it's bad in such an arcane, high-toned way that listening to it is perversely fascinating. After Parallel Lines gave Chris.
